The third generation Kia Rio debuted on March 1, 2011, at the Geneva Motor Show. Designed by Peter Schreyer. So we asked if the Rio is ready for a facelift and if the rumors, that talks about that the Rio will be next to include a “GT” sport variant, are true.
[ads id=”0″ style=”float:left;padding:9px;”]Talking with Kia Motors Corp. Overseas Marketing Vice President, Soon-Nam Lee said: “A refreshed version of the Rio will be launched globally next year but will not include a “GT” version.”
“We are always striving to point the Kia brand in a more youthful and dynamic direction, and we are mulling over the possibility of expanding the “GT” variants to other models in our line-up and also introducing a true sports coupe in the near future.” said Soon-Nam Lee.
“A “GT” version of the Rio with a small displacement turbo engine and sporty suspension tuning and design touches would indeed be a good option, and we are currently studying the feasibility of launching such a variant in the future.” he added.
