Genesis unveiled their latest concept car today, and it’s a handsome, low-slung and wide-bodied grand touring coupe.

Yes, an actual coupe with only two doors. It also happens to be electric, but unlike other electric concept cars, the Genesis X features a traditional coupe bodystyle. It also features Genesis’ current styling language, with headlights and taillights that come straight from the previous Essentia concept and mimic those across the current range.

The concept car appears in a color very similar to Kia’s Ascot Green, and has subtle design cues all around the car that accentuate its width and performance aesthetic. No details have been released about the car’s powerplant, but if a production version is built, it’s sure to be based on the e-GMP platform that underpins the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6GT, and upcoming Genesis GV60.

On the inside, the Genesis X features a driver-centric cockpit with what appears to be luxurious, aged brown leather on the driver’s seat, dashboard, and steering wheel, but black throughout the rest of the interior. It’s an elegant interior that only hints at the electric powertrain and modern amenities. The center console and gauge cluster appear to be connected in one giant screen, and a unique shift knob looks closer to a production specification than the rest of the interior.

Will we see a real full-size electric coupe in the Genesis lineup soon? While we dream of cars like this, Genesis already has a sedan-focused lineup, and crossovers are today’s sales drivers, so we’d be surprised to see this come to fruition anytime soon. But big thanks to Genesis for keeping the dream alive.
