J.D. Power announced today that the Hyundai Genesis received the trophy for the highest initial quality in the midsize premium car segment. The award comes from the J.D. Power 2013 U.S. Initial Quality StudySM (IQS). The Initial Quality Study, now in its 27th year, serves as the industry benchmark for new-vehicle quality measured at 90 days of ownership. Kia Motors America (KMA) and Hyundai Motor America (HMA) reported an best-ever all-time record May sales with 52,327 vehicles sold, a 1.8-percent increase over the same period in 2012 and 68,358 units, up 2.0 percent, respectively.
About half of all passenger vehicle occupants killed on U.S. roads die in frontal crashes. Major strides have been made in frontal crash protection, thanks in large part to the crash test program the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) began in the late 1970s and the crashworthiness evaluations the Institute began in 1995.
