After reaching all-time sales and market share highs in 2011, Kia Motors America’s (KMA) steep upward trajectory continued in the first month of 2012 with record January sales of 35,517 units, a 27.8-percent increase over the same period in 2011, and the brand’s 17th straight monthly sales record. KIA Motors European division made an astonishing record of 252.000 cars produced in Zilina (Slovakia) during 2011, with a 10 per cent increase over 2010. Also, the Slovakian plant achieved a 12 per cent year-on-year increase in production of engines, with over 350.000 petrol and diesel units rolling off the lines.
The 2011 HEMI Dodge Charger R/T has 370 horsepower and enough grunt to stop the earth’s rotation. The 2011 Kia Sportage Turbo GDi has 260 horsepower and goes from 0 to 60 mph in just a tic under 7 seconds. Both cars have all wheel drive but the Dodge weighs about 1000 pounds more.
